Photography has been my hobby ever since I received my first Kodak Instamatic camera when I was 10 years old. Those early forays into the art of photography yielded mostly rough snap shots of family and friends which,none-the-less, captured memories that I still cherish. Throughout the years, my cameras have become more sophisticated and my abilities more refined, but the goal remains the same--to freeze in time the special moments of life that will become our cherished memories.
Originally a California girl, I've lived in Guam, Idaho, and now Upstate New York. My careers have taken me from teaching elementary school,to creating custom swimwear, to computer science, and now to photography! I'm a mom, a daughter, and a wife and I understand the importance of capturing those precious memories so you can hold them in your hand and keep them from fading away.
I first decided to set up my own studio when my niece introduced my to an organization called Remember Nhu, an NGO that exists to help end child sex slavery through prevention. They work to empower at-risk girls by providing for their physical needs and offering vocational training, thereby reducing their vulnerability to sex-trade enterprises. This organization and its mission touched my heart and I began searching for a sustainable way in which I could help. That is how Karen Agnetta Photography was born and I have committed to share profits with projects that make a difference in my community and the world beyond, and hope to spread awareness so that maybe others whose hearts are touched will also begin to help.
